It’s all go at the Irish Food Writers’ Guild this week. Not only are we going live with our new website, which we hope will better reflect all the interesting and varied work with which our dynamic members are involved, but we are also hosting our 20th annual IFWG Food Awards on Wednesday 12th March 2014 in l’Ecrivain Restaurant. Chef-proprietor Derry Clarke has once again devised a gorgeous lunch menu showcasing produce from the various award winners. This year the Guild will present seven awards in total, including our inaugural IFWG Drink Award which has been introduced to reflect the exciting blossoming of a vibrant craft beer and cider sector here in Ireland.
Also to be presented on Wednesday are three awards for exemplary Irish-produced food products and an Environmental Award to recognise a food-related business that has had a positive environmental impact. We also honour an important initiative that has made a notable contribution to Irish food in the last year, and this year we are pleased to be recognising one very special person who has been integral to the development of Irish food, with the presentation of the IFWG Lifetime Achievement Award.
All the award-winners will be announced here on Wednesday – or you can follow the events in l’Ecrivain on Twitter by following @foodguild and #IFWGfoodawards.
In the meantime, have a browse through our Awards section here to read about some of the fantastic food producers and industry stalwarts who have been honoured by the annual IFWG Food Awards throughout its 20 years of existence.
